Hello to all!
The weekend just gone saw us host Mitcham at Quambee – who most think will be another finalist team this year in what is proving to be a very competitive Division 1.
As per the week before, our Senior Men won every stat on the day, and had more of the ball, more inside 50s, more marks and kicks, and more scoring shots, yet again we didn’t win where it counted – and that is on the scoreboard
We out-played Mitcham for qtrs 1,2 and 4 but the 3rd qtr proved costly with Mitcham kicking 6 un-answered goals to take the lead for the first time in the game, and ultimately they hung on
We find ourselves 1-3, whereas we should be 3 and 1. But that’s football sometimes
We are very confident the lads will pull this all together during the remainder of the year, and turn these close losses into wins
Patty Rose had a day out in front of goals, kicking 7.2 and Michael Locco was excellent in defence, being awarded player of the day by Mitchams coach
Final Scores were Nth Ringwood 10.14 74 to Mitcham 13.8.86
Our Reserves had one to forget after such a string start to the year, but despite the loss on Saturday, they remain in 5th place and battle 3rd place Croydon this week at Croydon
Final Scores on Saturday were Nth Ringwood 1.4.10 to Mitcham 8.13.61
Our Women played Knox in the “EFNL game of the day” – which is exactly what it was. The Saints were in front all day, but in the words of some of the players after the game, they got a bit cocky in the 3rd qtr and let Knox back into the game, going down by 2 points right at the end
Final Scores:
Nth Ringwood 5.3.33 to Knox 5.5.35
Our Under 19s kicked off a huge day at Quambee with a comprehensive win against Mitcham
The boys now find themselves in the hunt for finals sitting in 4th place on the ladder
It was a very entertaining game and the lads are definitely gelling after a couple of very close losses. We are very confident the Under 19s will keep firing and solidify themselves in the top 4
We cant send out a Weekend Update without mentioning our Past Players Day which was held on Saturday
What a great function and turnout we had. It was terrific to see all the familiar faces in the rooms during the day, with some true NRFC legends amongst us
Well done to Joe Tunstall and Neil Cooper and their colleagues for putting on such a great day.
After a big day on the microphone, it would be fair today that Joe has been resting his voice box since….or has he ? Lol
Our Vets had a controversial forfeit which is currently in dispute as our opponents could not field a team on the fixtured day, yet have asked for 2 points each which we have rejected. We await the appropriate response from the EFNL to award the 4 points to our Vets
This week we venture to Croydon to take on Croydon in what should be a very entertaining day
I look forward to seeing a large Saints contingent down supporting our teams!
All the best and enjoy the rest of your week
