April Gordon, “Footy Mum”

Hello Sainters,

It is with extreme sadness that we advise you of the passing of North Ringwood Football Club Life Member and Saints “Footy Mum” April Gordon on July 25 at just 71 years old. April passed peacefully in her sleep after having health issues over the last couple of years.

April came to North Ringwood when her boys began to play junior footy for the NRJFC, beginning with Mathew, and continuing with her other boys Nathan, Luke & Glenn. Not being one to stand still watching her boys, who all loved having a “red-hot go” at the sport they loved, April took on the role of trainer which she continued throughout the years her boys played in the juniors.

At a time when Junior Coaches were scarce, April put her hand up and took on the role of Head Coach for Glenn’s Under 15 team. She had such a passion for looking after the team as coach and trainer, she became known to many as the “Footy Mum” for the players and the committee.

When eldest son Mat progressed to NRFC Seniors, April came along with him and became a trainer at the Senior Club as well as the Juniors. With a growing interest in the running of her beloved North Ringwood Football Club, April joined the senior committee for several years.

April was deservedly honoured with a Life Membership of the NRFC for her dedication to the club and everyone involved in it, an award she cherished dearly. Our deepest sympathy and condolences go out to Mat, Nathan, Luke, Glenn, Laura, her 5 Grandchildren Skaife, Nyah, Archie, Emily, Rosie and all of April’s family and friends.

May she now rest in peace.
