It is with very heavy hearts that we advise you of the passing of the original North Ringwood Football Club Legend, Brian Morgan on June 19 at 95 years old.
Brian was a founding player member when the Saints came into existence in 1962.
The reason we wear the red, black and white guernseys is that Brian was an avid St Kilda fan, so he thought it appropriate that this new club should be decked out in these colourful jumpers that we still wear today.
After a few years playing Brian took on the role of trainer, then later was head trainer for many years.
In 1966 when the original Ringwood Catholic Rovers became North Ringwood Football Club, Brian was elected as the first NRFC President, a position he managed with gusto for 7 years.
Brian was engrossed in the well being of players and spent thousands of hours attending to the ailments of players, even treating players at his home (where I was one of the recipients), such was his dedication to North.
Brian and his wife Judy were always keen to attend Presentation Night and as many Club functions as possible.
We were honoured to have Brian attend the President’s Luncheon last year (thanks to his daughter Donna) at the age of 94. See photo attached.
Besides his lengthy involvement with NRFC he spent most of his life as an athletics coach, where he coached thousands of aspiring runners, many of which were North Ringwood footballers. I think he would hold his greatest achievement being training a Stawell Gift winner, and umpteen placegetters in all distances.
Brian, you will be very sadly missed by the thousands of people who had the pleasure and honour to be a part of your life.
Rest In Peace my dear friend.
Best Regards
Joe Tunstall
