G’Day Sainter community!
What a weekend just gone with Division 1 football!
It’s amazing how competitive this completion is! In the Seniors we have had a loss by a point after the siren, a win by 3 points, a loss by 10 points (after being 4 goals up), and now we get over the line by a point on the weekend against Bayswater in a game we controlled for most of the day.
Needless to say, it was terrific to get the 4 points, and we now sit 1 game and % out of the Top 4, with a huge game this weekend at home again, against Beaconsfield who are sitting on 4-3 whilst we are 3-4.
The Seniors battled all day last week, and found themselves on the wrong end of sharp shooting, kicking 5.13 to Bayswater 6.6. Which made it 18 shots to 12.
The encouraging sign was the lads knew ho to win, and they are starting to get a great belief that they CAN win, and win consistently
DVU and Loco were amazing down back, and our new look mid-field combined very well all day.
We still have a very young list, and I am super confident that the future is looking bright with the list we have, and the lads coming through .
This week we hope to get Nahas and Rose back into the team, which can only strengthen the 22
Our Reserves lead all day and looked like being comfortable winners against Baywater, but unfortunately clocked off in the last quarter and let Bayswater come from behind and kick the winning goal with 10 seconds to go on the clock.
Final Scores Bayswater 8.957 to Saints 8.6.54.
Best on Ground for us was Benny Sandilands who tried his guts out
Our Under 19s kicked off proceedings at Quambee lead comfortable all day, and ran out easy winners 10.11.71 to Bayswater 2.7.19
Our boys now sit in 5th on the ladder with Matt Watts being awarded best on ground.
Our 3 men’s teams haven’t all won on the same day for a long time so unfortunately we just missed out this week on a milestone day (hopefully this week!)
Our Women’s team took on their arch rival since joining the Comp, Park Orchards at Quambee.
Park Orchards played extremely well, and despite our ladies efforts, especially Ella Rhodes who was B.O.G, we went down 10.7.67 to 3.5.23
This week we play 5 games at Quambee, starting with our Vets this Friday under lights at 7.30pm against Forest Hill
We then wake up Saturday with the remaining 4 sides taking on Beaconsfield in what should be a huge day of football!
Under 19s start at 8.50am, followed by the ladies at 10.40, and then our Ressies at 12.30pm, with our Senior men taking the field at 2.20pm
Make sure you get down to support the Saints this weekend
