Practice match 1 update

Hi all SAINTERS

Great day on Quambee 2 on Saturday as the NRFC had their first practice match for 2019 against Montmorency.

With steamy conditions, it was a great hit out for all three sides.

The under 19’s played a side that has won the last few grand finals and equipped themselves extremely well. With 10 on the bench, it was fantastic to see the enthusiasm of the young lads. Only 4 goals separated the two teams in Montmorency’s fav    our. But so much to look forward too this year for the under 19’s.

The reserves also equipped themselves well, even though they were a little down on numbers due to the unavailability of 6-8 players this weekend, as well as the seniors having an extended bench of 9. It looks like the guys will continue their climb up the ladder for 2019.

The seniors had a very strong hit out, against a side who is expected to be in the finals race in the northern league in 2019.
It was great to see new faces, such as new recruits Mick Apeness, Billy Schilling, Adam Miles, Kyle Elliott, and Nick Lowden playing their first game for the NRFC, as well as under 19’s players Josh Povey and Mitch Heckley who were rewarded for a strong pre season.

Also a special mention to Sammy Whelan, who after missing a full 12 months due to an ACL , played a full game.

We got the jump early and maintained a lead of about 4 goals for the majority of the game.

On a sad note, the NRFC would like to pass on our condolences to Heath and the Decker family, for the passing of their grandmother.
